A by-product of quilting is fabric scraps. It goes without saying that if we cut up fabrics to make something, there will be leftover scraps. It would be a shame to throw them away now, wouldn’t it?? We have to make use of them and not waste them.Â
I have a huge collection of fabric scraps. They are in stacking drawers and plastic boxes. I have divided them by colour to help when looking for just the right piece for a project. However, I would like to make more use of them than just that. For example, I dream of making an entire quilt out of scrap fabrics. How economical that would be! Unfortunately, up to now I have not been able to accomplish this. Â
The Quilting Contessa at the Quilting Hub has some fabulous ideas of what to do with fabric scraps. Read about them in this article. (Apologies, “Quilting Hub” closed down on 1 October 2025.)  Which suggestion appeals to you the most?Â
