What do you do with your old jeans? Perhaps they don’t fit you anymore, or maybe they are out of style. If they are still in a good, clean condition, you might give them to a charity shop. Or you might pass them on to a friend or relative. Either way, these ideas are both good because you would be recycling them. Great news for the environment. However, what if you could repurpose them and create something new? As a result, this would be a win-win on three levels. You would be reusing, recycling and repurposing.Â
If you are a quilter and have a bit of imagination, you could make some lovely items using old jeans.   After all, purchasing new fabric from a shop each time you wish to make a quilt can be rather expensive. Start thinking sustainability and upcycling, key watchwords for today’s environmentally-minded citizens. Furthermore, when you start thinking along these lines, you will be doing your part to save the environment. In addition, you will be saving money!Â
Check out this interesting article about Radha Weaver, who retired from Levi’s after fifteen years. She was tired of seeing the waste in the fashion industry and set out to do something about it. She is inspiring quilters to reuse, recycle and repurpose.Â
