The Importance of the Colour Red in Quilting

We cannot understate the importance of the colour red in quilting.  Red is often the anchor colour in traditional Log Cabin Quilts, for example, appearing in the centre of each block.  Red  and White quilts, as in the photo above, are very popular and in a category of their own.  Historically, however, finding red fabric that did not fade was not always easy. This interesting article by Debi Warner of “The Quilting Hub” delves into the history of the colour red in quilts.
