Quilts Reunited for a Happy Ending

gold digger washes sand in river in search of gold in Pike's Peak gold rush

Back again for another of Grandma’s stories.ย  Grandma was a quilter and told many interesting tales related to quilts.ย  This particular one took place during the Pike’s Peak gold rush (Colorado gold rush) of 1858-59.ย

During this time, there was a panic on in the US.ย  Men looked for better opportunities to make a living and support their families.ย  Therefore, when news came about the discovery of gold in Colorado, many men headed west.ย  The lure of gold was too much to ignore.ย ย

However, some of the men who headed west lost communication with their families back home.ย  As a result, they sometimes were never heard from again.ย

Read this “Grandma’s Corner” story in Quilting Daily about how two identical quilts reunited two siblings long after the Colorado gold rush was over.
