Make the Most of Your Sewing Machine

Have you just purchased a new sewing machine and want to get the most out of it?  Or perhaps you’re still not familiar with your current machine.  Do you hate to read instructions?  You set the manual aside and figure you’ll refer to it when you actually have the need to do so.  After all, you are simply anxious to get going with your project and don’t have time to read the manual.

However, it could be reckless if you don’t take the time to read through the manual that came with your machine.  For example, if you jump right in and start sewing, you could very well damage something unintentionally.  You might pop in any old bobbin you have on hand but actually doesn’t fit properly.  Read how to thread the machine correctly so you don’t cause a jam.  In addition, you need to use the right needle for each project so you won’t be disappointed.

Furthermore, you’ll want to familiarise yourself with all the machine parts and all the accessories.  In this way, you will know what you can do with your machine.

This post by Amy Smart (Diary of a Quilter) has some great tips for sewing machine success.
