Are you using the correct bobbin for your sewing machine? Do you know that not any old one will do? In fact, the answer to your machine issues just might be this common sewing machine part.
If you sew a lot and use many different threads, you know that you need more bobbins to hold all those different threads. Therefore, you find it necessary to buy more.
No matter which brand of sewing machine you have, the owner’s manual will tell you to use only that brand’s bobbins. Of course, you read the manual when you bought the machine. However, after a few years you may have decided to economize and buy a generic brand. Or, in a pinch, you may use an old one from another machine that you found in a drawer.Â
The problem with the above two examples is that these bobbins probably don’t fit the case properly. As a result, you begin to have issues with your machine. These issues could be very serious and costly to repair; notably, a damaged case or timing issues. Â
Of course, you want to avoid these and other problems. This short article from “Quilting Hub” has some great tips to follow when purchasing new bobbins for your machine. Â
