October is one of my favourite months. I love the colours of the changing leaves and the autumnal scent in the air. The summer has gone, but the busy holidays have not yet arrived.

The regular craft fair season is slowly winding down for me. You may know that I participate in a fair in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare. The last opening for this season will be on Sunday, 6th October.

I am now busy gearing up for the Christmas season. The holidays will be here before we know it. With that in mind, I am taking orders for both small and large fabric Christmas wreaths. A small wreath measures 34 cm in diameter, and a large wreath measures 54 cm in diameter. These wreaths make lovely table decorations. You can add your own touch by placing a candle, LED lights, or other decorations in the centre. They can also be hung on a wall or on an interior door. Each wreath has 12 bows, and the large wreaths also have 12 jingle bells. What is more, the twelve "pockets" of the large wreath are each large enough to hold cutlery wrapped in a serviette. This is fantastic for those easy Christmas buffets or even Christmas dinner.

Following are samples of both a small and a large wreath. Fabrics vary with each one. However, they will be made in the traditional Christmas colours of red, green, white and gold unless otherwise specified when ordering (depending on fabric availability). Small wreaths are €25 plus shipping (free shipping within Ireland), and large wreaths are €40. At this time, the large wreaths are for pick-up only as I haven't found a secure way to post them.

The Birds of a Feather Table Runner is back in stock again. This one is made with a small pin dot on sage fabric which blends beautifully with the six images of birds in trees. The Pink Raggedy Baby Quilt is made with colourful 100% cotton flannel fabrics. Each square consists of three different patterned fabrics layered together, which makes for a wonderfully warm and cosy quilt for baby. The first fabric has happy baby giraffes in pink, blue, green and yellow. The second fabric has colourful baby hands and feet, and the third fabric is baby pink with a white squiggly design. Everyone will recognise this famous painting by Gustav Klimt. However, this isn't the actual painting, but a quilted wall hanging rendition! It has the look of a tapestry, and will add a touch of class to any home. It's made with beautiful 100% cotton fabrics, and as with all my wall hangings, it has hanging corners on the back. Simply insert a dowel and hang it on the wall. Speaking of the back, the backing fabric is absolutely beautiful. This one deserves a closer look. It's in the Shop now.

This is a very special throw quilt for me. As a child, my favourite book was "Anne of Green Gables". I read the entire series of eight books over and over again. This colourful, cosy throw is in various shades of green and lavender fabrics. One of the fabrics shows Anne, Green Gables, and other familiar scenes from the book. Another fabric shows several quotes from Anne and other characters. The other fabrics are filled with old-fashioned flowers. If you are a "kindred spirit", this throw quilt will transport you right back to late 19th century Prince Edward Island. Look for it in the Shop.

Making a Rag Quilt
|
|
|
|
Have you ever seen a rag quilt before? A rag quilt is made with a special technique that involves sewing the quilt layers together so that the seams are exposed on top. These seams are then snipped all along with a spring-loaded scissors (without cutting through the stitching). Machine washing and tumble drying several times will then cause the seams to 'rag' and give this special effect.

Pumpkins are a sure sign of Autumn. I made one of these pumpkin table runners a couple of years ago, and I thought it about time I made another one. I have pulled out some fabrics that I might use to make the five different pumpkins. Hmm, I think I need to throw in one or two brighter colours such as the yellow and the pale orange ones in the original runner.
