Hello,

July already! It's hard to believe that we are halfway through the year! I hope you are enjoying this summer season. I am busy adding to my stock and participating in regular craft fairs, so I know that my summer will go by in a flash.

I have been having a few issues with the behaviour of my website recently. It takes up so much of my time trying to figure out what's wrong. For this reason, I haven't been able to do as much quilting as planned. However, I do hope you like my new products.

Just a reminder that Red Bridge Quilts offers free standard postage to anywhere within the island of Ireland, as well as a free local pick-up service.

New this month

Following are the new posts up on the website this month. They are a gathering of various topics from the world of quilting. I hope you find them of interest.

Quilting news and tips

What is a Round Robin Quilt? Have you ever participated in a Round Robin Quilt Exchange? If not, you and your quilt group will enjoy participating in this fun activity. Find out what this is, and read about a similar project I did with my quilt group years ago. Spoiler alert: I am obligated to make a confession!

Take a look back at The India Quilt Festival of 2019, inaugurated by the Quilt India Foundation. Revel in the beauty and creativity of these works of art. Traditional quilt making in India originated thousands of years ago. It's wonderful to see this tradition being carried on today in these very creative contemporary quilts.

Are you an average quilter? This article does not refer to your talent as a quilter. However, it is interesting to know the habits of your fellow quilters. How old were they when they first began to quilt? How often do they purchase fabric? Do they purchase fabric and quilting tools in shops near them or online? How do your habits compare?

This is a lovely baby quilt called "Hearts and Flowers". It's made in a geometrical pattern using several different small print flower fabrics. These small flower prints along with a medium blue fabric with tiny white flowers form diamond patterns around the quilt. This same blue fabric is used for the backing and the binding. The quilting, in baby blue thread, makes a design of hearts and swirls all across the quilt. As with all my products, the fabrics are 100% cotton. Read more about this baby quilt in the Shop.

The Birds of a Feather table runner is back in stock again. This one is made with a medium green small print flower fabric. These runners are one of the more popular items in the Shop. You can see this one in more detail here.

Half-Square Triangles (HSTs), again!

In this section of the May newsletter, I discussed HSTs (half-square triangles). I mentioned the many variations that can be formed by using different layouts of half-square triangles. They are virtually endless! No need to explain the technique of how to make them again here. I just want to point out that the new baby quilt featured at the top of this newsletter is yet another way to lay out HSTs. They are really quite fun to play with and move around as you discover different designs.
DESIGN

Under my needle

I am currently finishing up work on another baby quilt. This one is called "Play Time". It features small fabric cuts of colourful images showing toy trains, park scenes, boats on a lake, and more. These play scenes are combined with blocks of bone-coloured cotton fabric.
